ALEP – The Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners

Background

Founded in 2007 by brother and sister Alex Greenslade and Anna Bailey, the Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners (ALEP) is a not-for-profit trade association. Its members include barristers, managing agents, project managers, solicitors and valuers working in the residential leasehold sector. 

Membership of ALEP acts as a badge of assurance so that leaseholders and freeholders can be confident that they are employing professionals with the right level of expertise in handling potentially complex leasehold enfranchisement transactions.

Brief  

ALEP commissioned Quantum PR to work alongside the association’s marketing manager to support marketing and communications efforts. ALEP strives to promote best practice and education throughout the sector, and it was important this this message was conveyed through all activities. 

In addition, the association also sought to raise its profile in the trade press and profiles of key members. 

Outcomes  

Through the campaign Quantum PR has secured ALEP comment in key publications including Flat Living, News on the Block, Law Society Gazette, Moneywise and Designs on Property. Quantum PR also secured an appearance on Property TV for one of ALEP’s directors to discuss ‘the pitfalls of leasehold’.

As well as targeted media relations Quantum has also provided support through copywriting for the ALEP newsletter, website and social media posts. 

ALEP regularly offers counsel on leasehold enfranchisement legislation, and members were instrumental in the recent consultation ‘tackling unfair practices in the leasehold market’. As part of the campaign, Quantum drafted letters to MPs, and Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government to highlight the important work ALEP undertakes to create a fair and transparent enfranchisement sector for the future. 

Quantum has also been on hand to support the ALEP team at various conferences and lectures, which are well respected and attended by members of the leasehold enfranchisement sector, providing social media and public relations support.
