Chilmington Green will be a completely new neighbourhood for the town of Ashford in Kent. The vision is to develop a sustainable new Garden City settlement comprising 5,750 residential houses, employment opportunities, retail, education and community facilities and associated infrastructure.
Quantum was appointed to support the Chilmington Green development in Ashford prior to the submission of the planning application.
The team provided support to the Chilmington Green developers’ consortium to devise clear project messages and disseminate the development’s benefits to the wider community, including the results of an independent economic benefits study. Quantum implemented a proactive campaign to liaise with key local press and develop positive relationships with journalists and the media.
Quantum liaised with key officers in the council’s communications team, providing them with information on the timescales and forthcoming milestones, to build relationships and encourage future joint working. Quantum also assisted the consortium with arranging a series of public exhibitions and parish council briefings during the consultation phase and helped key spokespeople from the consortium to prepare for and manage broadcast interviews.
Quantum successfully disseminated positive messages about the project, receiving coverage in the local media. The team built relationships with key journalists to promote the benefits of the project and liaised with the council communications team to share information.
The planning application was approved by Ashford Borough Council and the campaign has moved from pre-planning consultation to property marketing. Quantum continues to support the developers’ consortium as the construction phase gets underway.
