So - what's really happening with local authority newspapers?
More than 100 local authorities completed the sixth Local Government Information Unit (LGIU) Benchmarking Survey on Local Authority Newspapers and Magazines. Carried out in autumn 2010 for the LGIU by Alan Pickstock Associates and Quantum Public Relations, the survey results highlight the choices and difficulties being experienced by those responsible for local government publications faced with the introduction of the new Publicity Code and spending cuts.
The survey results provide a state of the nation snapshot of the cost and effectiveness of local authority publications. To view the full report click here.
The findings from the survey, an analysis of the new Publicity Code and good practice ideas and examples will feature in three one-day workshops run by Quantum PR and Alan Pickstock Associates. The workshops Putting the Publicity Code in to Practice are designed to help you make the most of your publication. With delegate numbers limited to 16 per workshop, sessions will address individual issues and will include:
- Design
- Working with partners
- How to demonstrate value
- Getting a good print deal
- Making the link with online audiences
- Talking with those who are hard to reach
- Pre-bookable surgery sessions
